DESCRIPTION:In 2012\, Neighborhood Roots was approached by the Hale-Page-Diamond Lake Neighborhood Association about their desire to start a new neighborhood farmers market. After careful consideration\, the decision was made to launch three pilot markets during the summer of 2014.  Nokomis Farmers Market took place mid-week on Wednesday evenings –  the perfect opportunity to catch up on shopping and spend a quality summer afternoon with friends and neighbors! The enthusiasm of the neighborhood in 2014 lead to the launch of a once weekly Wednesday afternoon market in 2015.  The 2026 season marks the eleventh full-season for Nokomis. Sixteen weeks of local food\, music and fun!

DESCRIPTION:At Textile Center\nWednesday\, September 16\, from 4 – 6 pm\nFree\, open to the public \nWritten by Monica Rojas\, illustrated by Luisa Uribe. \nJoin us in welcoming local author Monica Rojas to Textile Center for a special reading and signing of her newly published children’s book\, “Patchwork Memories.” This bilingual picture book tells a story about how quilts can hold and carry family memories\, and the love and shared experiences that bring families together\, even in the hardest of times. Learn more about the book here. \nAbout the author: \nMonica Rojas is a bilingual queer Chilean-American who engages communities through writing and artistic practices with magical realism\, joy\, and play. Her picture books include “Nana and Abuela” and “Patchwork Memories.” She is also a member of The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has created many interactive art installations\, performances\, and workshops. She lives with her wife\, niece\, and nephew in Minneapolis\, MN where she befriend local librarians\, mends clothes\, and stoop sits. \nEvent schedule: \n4 pm – Meet + Greet\, Make a “quilted” bookmark activity for kids\n4:30 – 5 pm – Book reading\n5 – 6 pm – Book signing\, Make a “quilted” bookmark activity for kids \nBooks will be available for purchase. DESCRIPTION:As the largest farmer-managed market in the state\, we serve as a community resource\, a meeting place\, a tourist draw\, and most importantly\, a place to access Minnesota’s greatest selection of fresh produce\, plants\, and locally made products. \nOur roots in Minneapolis started in 1876 at the corner of First Street and Hennepin Avenue. In 1937\, our current flagship market opened at Lyndale and Glenwood Avenue north\, marked by the three signature red sheds that still cover our market. \nWe support over 100+ vendors who alternate the use of our 170 stalls.
