DESCRIPTION:Experience the beauty of a special place in the Twin Cities! The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden is the oldest public native plant garden in the United States. Located in the heart of Minneapolis\, it brings together a diverse collection of plants in woodland\, wetland\, and meadow habitats in just 18 acres. This unique garden started by Eloise (and others) has been carefully cultivated over 120 years by many hands into the wondrous place it is today. \nThe Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden Florilegium captures the intimate details of the beautiful wild plants of this garden. A florilegium is a compendium of illustrations of the plants in a particular place\, as a visual and historical record. Created by artists of the Minnesota School of Botanical Art\, the project reclaims a centuries old form to highlight a special\, public place that’s important today. It carries on a tradition of botanical illustration that brings together art and science to create accurate\, yet expressive\, depictions of living plants. \nThis all-ages exhibition centers on the 111 watercolors of the florilegium. DESCRIPTION:Sever’s Fall Festival in Shakopee\, Minnesota\, packs a full day of family activities into its cornfield grounds. The centerpiece is the legendary Corn Maze Challenge\, where completing the maze can win you $500 in cash. \nAdmission covers a long list of attractions: the corn maze\, corn pits and an extreme corn pit\, jumping pillows\, an obstacle course\, a straw bale maze\, tire mountain\, zip lines\, pig races\, an exotic petting zoo\, a kiddie train\, a play system\, antique tractors and fire trucks\, and photo ops throughout the grounds. Entertainment is included too\, with wildlife shows\, live music from the Blue Ox Jazz Babies\, straw sculptures and installations\, Carlson’s Lovable Llamas\, Norm the Magician\, and Kidsdance. \nA handful of attractions carry an extra charge\, including pony rides at $5 per rider\, the giant slide at $3 per rider\, and pumpkin blasters at $5 for 7 shots. Others include hay rides at $2 per rider for ages 4 and up\, pumpkins at $.49 per pound\, face painting\, the Apple Express\, an artisan market\, and inflatable axe throwing at $5 for 6 throws. Food and beverages and Sever’s own apples round out the offerings. \nThe festival is located at 3121 150th Street West\, Shakopee\, MN 55379.
