SUMMARY:Wild Beauty: The Botanical Art of the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden Florilegium | Bell Museum - St Paul
DESCRIPTION:Experience the beauty of a special place in the Twin Cities! The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden is the oldest public native plant garden in the United States. Located in the heart of Minneapolis\, it brings together a diverse collection of plants in woodland\, wetland\, and meadow habitats in just 18 acres. This unique garden started by Eloise (and others) has been carefully cultivated over 120 years by many hands into the wondrous place it is today. \nThe Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden Florilegium captures the intimate details of the beautiful wild plants of this garden. A florilegium is a compendium of illustrations of the plants in a particular place\, as a visual and historical record. Created by artists of the Minnesota School of Botanical Art\, the project reclaims a centuries old form to highlight a special\, public place that’s important today. It carries on a tradition of botanical illustration that brings together art and science to create accurate\, yet expressive\, depictions of living plants. \nThis all-ages exhibition centers on the 111 watercolors of the florilegium. It includes hands-on activities\, such as a collaborative garden mural and an opportunity to learn to draw plants\, as well as a video projection and collections highlights\, including specimens collected by Eloise Butler herself for the University of Minnesota Herbarium. \nThis is a Weekly Recurring Event\nRuns from Sep 26\, 2026 to Jan 3\, 2027 and happens every:\nWednesdays: 10:00am – 4:00pm Timezone: Central Time (US & Canada)\nThursdays: 10:00am – 4:00pm Timezone: Central Time (US & Canada)\nFridays: 10:00am – 4:00pm Timezone: Central Time (US & Canada)\nSaturdays: 10:00am – 4:00pm Timezone: Central Time (US & Canada)\nSundays: 10:00am – 4:00pm Timezone: Central Time (US & Canada)

SUMMARY:The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra: Williams’ “Zodiac Suite” with the Aaron Diehl Trio | The Ordway
DESCRIPTION:Grammy Award-winning conductor-composer Teddy Abrams leads this star-studded exploration of two American masterworks in a nod to our country’s 250th anniversary. With roots in American folk and jazz traditions\, there’s an undeniable groove in the rhythms and orchestration of Mary Lou Williams’ “Zodiac Suite”\, edited here for chamber orchestra by Aaron Diehl. His jazz trio is joined by multi-disciplinary vocalist Mikaela Bennett for the song cycle “Honey and Rue”\, set to the poetry of Nobel laureate Toni Morrison. Trust us when we say: you will not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime collaboration with the SPCO.

SUMMARY:Free Park Day | Minnesota State Parks
DESCRIPTION:On four days each year\, all Minnesota state parks and state recreation areas offer free admission to everyone – no vehicle permits needed! \nFree park days in 2026\n\nMonday\, January 19\nSaturday\, April 25\nSaturday\, June 13\nFriday\, November 27\n\nMinnesota state parks are open year-round\, and there’s a state park within 30 miles of most Minnesotans. With a free day in each season\, it’s a great opportunity to get out there and explore someplace new – or visit an old favorite at a new time of year! Whether you stay for the whole weekend or just spend a few hours outside\, you’ll make memories that will last a lifetime. \nThe entrance fee waiver for fee-free days does not cover amenity or user fees for activities like camping\, rentals\, or special tours. \nThe goal is to encourage families and friends to spend time together in nature. Research shows many health and wellness benefits to spending time in nature. According to ParkRx\, contact with nature improves one’s physical\, mental\, and spiritual health. Getting outdoors makes exercise more fun and can boost mood and immunity. The American Psychological Association shares that exposure to nature is linked to benefits including improved attention\, lower stress\, reduced risk of psychiatric disorders and even increases in empathy and cooperation.
