DESCRIPTION:Learn about the history and power of the printing press as a tool for sharing information\, and use a Vandercook printing press to print a message! \nFirst\, as a group\, decide on a few words or a short phrase of up to 3 words (this could be a protest poster\, a quote\, etc.). The teaching artist will work with the group to set the phrase with wood type\, and each participant will apply ink and print at least one copy of their print to take home. \nThis short\, in-person workshop exposes participants to the technical skills required for letterpress printing\, but participation in Letterpress 1: Printing Basics\, Letterpress 2: Setting Type and Letterpress 3: Two-Color Prints is needed in order to attend Letterpress Labs to print independently in MCBA’s studios. \nLevel: Beginner.
