Lakes for Days: Bde Maka Ska

This post is part of our Lakes for Days Series. Read more posts from this series HERE.

One of my favorite beaches to visit on a hot summer day in the Twin Cities is Bde Maka Ska. You can often find me riding my bike on my favorite bike path that loops around Bde Maka Ska.

I’m most excited to check out the new Bde Maka Ska pavilion that is set to open this summer after it burnt down in 2019. Keep updated on the construction here.

You have your pick of three beaches along Bde Maka Ska. Bde Maka Ska Thomas Beach is on the south side of the lake, while Bde Maka Ska North Beach is, you guessed it, on the north side. My favorite is the more family friendly, Bde Maka Ska 32nd Beach, which you will find on the east side of the lake. It is also adjacent to a great, well-maintained park where your little ones can work their wiggles out in between jumps in the lake. Lifeguards are generally on duty during the busier parts of the day as well.

Bde Maka Ska offers a variety of recreational rentals by the hour through Wheel Fun Rentals. Check out their website for their offerings and hours.

Have you been to Bde Maka Ska yet this year? What are you waiting for? Grab the kiddos,  your beach bag, and make a spectacular day of it!
