“Ceol on the River,” an outdoor concert experience with a distinctive Irish accent, will be the official kickoff event to the 2025 Irish Fair of Minnesota. Ceol (KEY-yole), in Irish is translated to “music,” will be held Thursday, Aug. 7 on Saint Paul’s scenic Harriet Island, the same location as the annual celebration of all things Irish, running Friday, Aug. 8 through Sunday, Aug. 10.
The Coronas, dubbed as “Ireland’s Hardest Working Band,” will headline the vibrant and high-energy evening with support from Róisín O and The Belfast Cowboys. Tickets are now on sale at Ceol on the River.
The Coronas
The Coronas are known for their blend of indie, folk, pop, and rock sounds, often described as having anthemic indie rock with catchy tunes and an Irish accent. Based in Dublin, the band’s core members, Danny O’Reilly, Graham Knox, and Conor Egan, met in college and formed the band in 2003.
Their last three albums debuted at #1 on the Irish charts. The multi-platinum group can claim supporting Bruce Springsteen in Hyde Park, playing for President Biden, and a burgeoning global fanbase. They are renowned for their magnetic live performances and were once voted the #1 Live Act of the Year by Hot Press.
Róisín O
Róisín O (RO-sheen) is a celebrated Irish singer, songwriter, and musician, known for her powerful vocals and captivating stage presence. Her music is described as folk and alternative pop with influences from Joni Mitchell and Haim.
Fun Fact: Danny O’Reilly of The Coronas and Róisín O are siblings. Their mother, Mary Black, is a beloved folk singer and prominent musical figure in Ireland.
The Belfast Cowboys
The Belfast Cowboys are a nine-piece horn-driven band from Minneapolis that specializes in the music of Van Morrison. They blend rock, blues, roots, and soul sounds.
The band is led by veteran songwriter and guitarist Terry Walsh. They have been playing since 2002 and are known for packing houses and wowing crowds.
