Family Costume Party Concert | Dakota Valley Symphony

This isn’t just a concert—it’s a celebration of 40 years of musical magic. With narration, costumes, and a program designed to spark wonder, it’s the perfect way to introduce young audiences to the symphony and create lasting memories.

Concert Details:

  • Fun & Games: Join us starting at 1 PM for exciting children’s games and activities that promise a fun-filled afternoon for the whole family! Plus, join us in the upstairs lobby following the concert for an “instrument petting zoo”, where kids of all ages can visit with the musicians and get an up close look at how the instruments work.
  • Concert Time: The concert will begin at 2 PM, featuring a vibrant children’s costume parade where kids can showcase their Halloween costumes! Yes, the orchestra will be in costume too!
  • Kids tickets are free!: With each adult ticket purchased, up to 3 kids get in free. You’ll hear movie music favorites for less than the cost to take the family to an actual movie.

Kick off the 40th anniversary season of the Dakota Valley Symphony in a family-friendly concert that combines the music Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and Dukas’ (do kahz) The Sorcerer’s Apprentice in a fun narration full of community spirit! Bring your family, enjoy the games, and don’t forget to wear your costumes for a day full of entertainment and joy!

Program Highlights:

Prokofiev: Peter and the Wolf ~ A delightful musical tale that introduces the instruments of the orchestra through engaging storytelling, perfect for young audiences.

Dukas: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice ~ A whimsical piece that captures the humorous misadventures of a young apprentice as he tries to control his magic.

John Williams: Superman ~ The iconic theme that embodies heroism and adventure, inspiring listeners of all ages.

Music from How to Train Your Dragon ~ A thrilling score that brings to life the bond between Hiccup and Toothless, filled with adventure and heartwarming moments.

Music from Fantastic Beasts ~ Enchanting tunes that immerse the audience in the magical world of J.K. Rowling, perfect for sparking the imagination.
