Looking for a fun place to take the whole family this summer? Want to see how ideas, stories and beautiful images come to life through animation? From June 9th-September 4th, you can! Visit the Science Museum of Minnesota to learn all about The Science Behind Pixar and take a step inside the world of animation and the minds of the creators!
It’s amazing to think about how a simple idea can be so complex. Starting out on paper, following a unique path, and finally finding it’s destination – on screen and in our homes. Creating memories and evoking emotions that leave us feeling connected to unexpected characters, like purple monsters and forgetful fish.
We recently had the chance to get a sneak peek of this wonderful exhibit and can’t wait for you to visit too! This exciting space is filled with over 40 interactive tools that let you and your kids step into the design process of your favorite Pixar films. It’s perfect for all ages – the little kids love it because they are familiar with the characters, but older kids will be able to truly learn the science behind filmmaking in a whole new way. Even us adults loved this exhibit as we grew up with some of these films!
Cozy up to Dory, Buzz Light Year or Sully for a photo before you explore their animated worlds. Help create scenes and character movements, just like you’re part of the design team! Kids and adults alike will enjoy building robots, animating characters, simulating motion, controlling lighting and sound while learning about each important step in the design process.
In addition to all of the hands-on exploration, you’ll get the chance to meet and hear from the professionals who continuously delight us with their fascinating work. Learn about the filmmaking process and the details behind the scenes of some of movies like The Incredibles, Brave, Up, Inside Out, and more. These are the kind of movies that make us feel confident, valued, strong and determined. Movies we can all relate to (regardless of age), and you get a chance to see how they came to fruition!
This is a traveling exhibit and this is the very first stop in the midwest! So, since it’s only here for a short time, you don’t want to miss it!
