Kemps and Pearson’s Candy Partnership – Unveiling New Flavors!

{TCMB has partnered with Kemps for this sponsored post.  We simply love this local business and are thrilled to highlight it and share what they’re up to!}

I love it when something I love gets even better.

Just when you think it’s perfectly divine as it is,

someone, somewhere,  has an idea that makes me think “No way!”.

Today, August 21st, Kemps is announcing a partnership with another century-old Minnesota company, Pearson’s Candy, to produce a new line of….wait for it…..ice cream!

This year, when you go to the Minnesota State Fair you will have a chance to taste two of the new ice cream flavors!

Nut Goodies and Salted Nut Roll will be unveiled months before they hit grocery store freezers in early 2015.

If you are a fan of their Mint Patties, do not fear, they will be busting that out in early 2015 too!

My kids and I had a chance of a lifetime this past Tuesday.  We were invited to tour the Pearson’s Candy plant.  Honestly, you would have thought my kids died and went to heaven!  They do not give tours on a regular basis, so we felt pretty honored.  At ages 5 and 7, I really hope they remember this because even at my age, I have never seen anything like it!  From now on we will have a special place for Salted Nut Rolls, Mint Patties, and Nut Goodies!

It was very cool to see vats of caramel and nougat.  Some rooms were cold and some were warm, and the smells were VERY sweet!  My kids needed to hit up their water fountains plenty of times from all of the tasting they got to do along the way. I have seen factory productions lines on Mister Rogers as a young girl and this was very cool to see up front, live, in person!

After the tour we were one of the first to check out Kemps Mooseum!  Fairgoers can stop by the Kemps booth on Machinery Hill from 1 to 2 pm daily to taste the new flavors!  Inside my kids loved milking the cow and seeing all the history of Kemps Ice Cream.  They also have interactive iPads where you and your kid can make yourself into a singing cow…very fun!  We sure got in our sweets for a long time and I found the ice cream to be gourmet, in my opinion.

It’s not just your average scoop, I would say!  We even met some food scientists who explained how they paired the various flavors.  Kemps and Pearson’s Candy produced limited edition flavors in the past and because of the strong consumer reaction, they decide to collaborate in creating a brand new line of ice cream.

Twin Cities Familys Blog will be appearing at the Kemps State Fair Booth on August 28th, we will give you more details as we have them.  We would love for you to come and see us!  You should stop by their booth regardless of when.  These ice creams are good to check out and will surely be a hit with your kids, I know they were with mine!  Also, the Mooseum produced lots of giggles and fun!

Cheers to two great Minnesota brands and companies coming together to make us all a little happier at the Fair, and giving us something to look forward to in January 2015!
