In September, we shared with our community the Comcast RISE (Representation, Investment, Strength and Empowerment) grant that was awarded to help provide underrepresented small business owners with access to digital tools and funding.
In 2021, Comcast RISE granted $11 million to 1,100 businesses across select metropolitan areas. Each business received $10,000 to invest in its own growth and sustainability.
We are excited to share with you that for the second time in less than a year, Comcast RISE will award another $1 million in grants – $10,000 each – to 100 Twin Cities small businesses owned by people of color and now all women-owned small businesses. To date, Comcast RISE has benefitted more than 200 Twin Cities small businesses.
According to a study by the National Association of Women Business Owners, 42% of businesses in the U.S. are owned by women, with more than 1,800 new businesses being started every day. That’s nearly five times the national average. However, according to the same study, women-owned businesses are growing at only half the rate of those run by men, namely because women struggle to access capital and other resources to help them succeed.
Twin Cities Familys, do you know someone who would qualify for this grant? Could it be you?
Grant recipients could receive one or more of the following elements: consulting, media, creative production, technology makeover and monetary grant.
Comcast wants to ensure that as many small business owners as possible are aware of this grant opportunity. We are asking you to spread the Comcast RISE grant announcement.
The window to apply for the Comcast RISE Investment Fund is June 1 – 14, 2022. Recipients will be announced in late July. To qualify, grant applicants must have been in business for three or more years, employ a staff of between 1-25 employees, and operate in the seven-county Twin Cities metro. Information is available in other languages, upon request.
Additional information and the application can be found at ComcastRISE.com.
