6 Cool Diaper Bag Alternatives

My mission was simple: find a diaper bag that no one will know is a diaper bag. As a new mom, I wasn’t quite ready to rock a Chevron cross-body with a thousand confusing accessories—it kind of felt like trading in my car for a mini van. I’m all about functionality, but I knew there had to be a way not to completely sacrifice style.

I’ve found the key to having more bag options is knowing what to pack. I totally overdid it in the beginning: I never used the pair of socks, five extra pacifiers, board book, butt paste, or stuffed animal I once thought so necessary to bring everywhere. As I learned my baby’s needs, my choices multiplied. I do own an actual diaper bag (don’t tell: it’s Chevron), but I rarely use it, and when I do, I don’t even bring the changing pad that comes with it. I find it more useful as a travel or computer bag.

My every-day bag is the Herschel Market Tote, which I absolutely love. It’s just the right size for the essentials for myself and baby: keys, wallet, phone, lip gloss, diapers, wipes, an outfit change, a sippy cup, and a snack. It has a few small pockets to make my things easy to grab, and there’s a separate compartment where I keep my son’s swag. It’s durable and easy to clean, which are both musts when trouncing about the town with an infant in tow. All in all, it functions like a diaper bag but definitely doesn’t look like one.

I scoured the internet for a few other cool bag options— because if you’re anything like me, you may not be ready for the mini van just yet.

Ha ha, great article. A diaper bag that does not look like diaper bag. I would vote for Longchamp.
