Waxing the City {A Sponsored Review}

WTC-H

{Disclosure: The Twin Cities Familys Blog team was invited for a team event at Waxing the City Highland Park.  We received complimentary services and compensation for this review and are happy to rave about it in return!  We all agreed it is a fantastic salon and are thrilled to share our experience with you.}

Waxing the City in Highland Park invited our team to try out their unique waxing salon and since we’re girls who don’t mind being pampered, not to mention hang out as a team, we were more than happy to oblige!

Waxing the City is different in a few really fun ways, but the first that will get you paying attention is that they are a NO TIP salon.  You heard me, no tips.  The price of your service is the price and that’s it.  We all loved our experience and here’s why:

1. Meticulous, specialized staff and clean facility.  The place wasn’t just modern and clean in design, it was spotless, which immediately makes you feel comfortable when you walk in.  The staff is well educated on what brow shapes will fit your face and make you feel comfortable.  They’ll answer your questions honestly about what will look best and offer product ideas, but aren’t pushy with them.  Plus, they’re specialists – waxing is all they do, unlike an add-on service at a hair salon. The process took a bit longer than what is “typical” but it’s worth every second.  The staff won’t rush you, instead they’ll spend time with you, don’t rush through your service and make sure you’re happy with the results.

2. The wax is amazing!  Waxing the City has their wax custom made in Spain and have hard and soft wax.  With a typical experience at other salons, you walk out of the salon with a really red eye area, sometimes tears dripping down your face from the process and you can’t help but feel your eyebrows for a good 30 minutes or longer.  This was not the case – the hard wax they used on our eyebrows was AMAZING, and we all agreed!  Once the process is over, you can’t feel a thing and the effects seem to last much longer. They also have soft wax available.

3. They are convenient and affordable.  As moms, it can be hard to squeeze in these little beauty treatments with all that’s going on, so the fact that they welcome walk-ins and allow you to schedule online in a big perk, plus they’re open on Sundays as well, so you get one extra day to try to get in and treat yourself. Not only is this a No-Tip Salon, but your first service is 50% off. No risk to try them out and you won’t be sorry. They kept saying that they best tip you can give them is to refer your friends – we promise you’ll find it easy to do so once after your first visit.

Waxing the City is owned by Anytime Fitness, already has a location in Woodbury and will be opening soon in Maple Grove, St. Louis Park, Minneapolis and St. Cloud.  It’s such a great concept that they’re also now starting franchise.

We’re more than happy to recommend this spot to you – here are a few opinions from the Twin Cities Familys Blog team:

“The cerologists were professional and kind, and the whole place was so squeaky clean! Even at 8 months pregnant, they worked to make me comfortable.” – Anna

“I like how educated they are about eyebrow shapes.  She didn’t just go to town on my brows, she gave tips on where I could grow them a bit, and didn’t hard sell on how often to come in.  This is a place that makes you feel comfortable with what you have as far as hair is concerned.  Ruth was VERY meticulous, but didn’t go overboard…they really spend time with you and care about if you like your treatment or not.  I loved them!” – Suzanne

“I appreciate that waxing is their specialty. Often it feels that at other salons or spas waxing takes a back seat to facials, massage or hair services. This specialization made me feel more confident in trying out a new place. I already have my next appointment on the books!” – Alissa

“It was painless and I was very comfortable the whole time.  I have gotten my eyebrows waxed quickly before at my hair salon, but I think the set-up at Waxing the City where you lay down on a flat surface produces better results than a quick eyebrow wax between washing and cutting my hair. I will never go back to hair salon waxing again!” – Karri

Thank you so much for posting this! I’ve driven by the Maple Grove location a ton and have been a little hesitant to try them. I’m going to schedule an appointment today 🙂
