Team USA’s Molly Kreklow: My Mom is My Hero | Twin Cities Familys Blog

For as long as she can remember, Molly Kreklow has always wanted to be on the volleyball court. At a young age, she realized she wanted to play competitively so she rolled up her sleeves, got to work and chased after her dreams.

Her mom was an eyewitness to her dedication, saying: “We’d leave everyday about 4:00 with a backpack of books and the backpack of dinners. We’d get to our club and we’d do all the training. We’d get back in the car and get home about 10:00 at night.”

Molly’s parents are both former Division I athletes, so they know firsthand the dedication it takes to be the best in your sport. When they saw the same devotion in Molly, they knew they had to do everything they could to nurture her talent.

As her mom says, “She’s just a natural gift as an athlete.”

The volleyball practices were long and the training schedule intense, but ultimately, the sacrifice was worth it when Molly emerged as a superstar at the University of Missouri, where she broke records and started every match during her four-year career. While her accomplishments speak volumes about her passion for the sport, Molly is the the first to acknowledge that she wouldn’t be where she is today without the support of her family, and her mom in particular. She calls her mom her hero, whose sacrifices made it possible for her to achieve success.

Milk’s ‘Power Their Dreams’ Contest, brought to you by Kemps, was launched this summer to highlight the amazing contributions and hard work of families like Molly’s who are a driving force behind making each athlete the true superstars they are today.

Power Their Dreams’ will run on Facebook through August 7, so there are only a few days left to enter the contest. Kemps wants to hear about how you and your family have provided a strong network of support to champion your athlete’s dream, and people can submit their story either in a comment on Facebook or via private message. The winner of the contest will receive an all-expenses paid trip for a family of four to tour the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
