Yeah, yeah, yeah – we want more sleep and more patience and five fewer pounds and to want to want cucumber water instead of Caribou.
But here at Twin Cities Familys Blog, we’re about real talk and real self-love. So without further ado, I present to you this mama’s 2017 real-utions:
I will shower at least 5 4 3 times a week and within 1 6 24 hours of a workout. I will wash my hair at least weekly. I will buy some overpriced dry shampoo sprinkled with magic fairy dust, and I’ll promptly forget about it and wear a giant ratty headband.
I will meal plan and I will get lazy and change the plan and forget to cook the veggies and it won’t matter anyway because my two-year old’s favorite dinner is three containers of lime Chobani.
I will wear real clothes outside of work, sometimes, unless I’m at home, working out, shopping, seeing friends, eating, drinking or going to a public attraction. And as long as they don’t have buttons, zippers or a clean-laundry scent.
I will put down my phone and open my eyes to the beautiful life happening right in front of me…which I planned, remembered, photographed and shared with my phone.
I will treat myself, at least until I remember that tiny clothes are so much cuter than adult clothes, my spa-style breakfast is much less appetizing once a sticky hand has smashed its way across my plate and I spend my me-time wondering why it’s so quiet/what that crash was/why I hear crying/why I hear laughing/what I’m missing/why I wanted me-time in the first place.
Happy New Year, mamas! Do you have any real-utions?
