I am a Twin Cities Family: Joy Austinson

Today’s I am a Twin Cities Family feature is all about Joy Austinson!

“I am Joy and my passions are coffee, local life in Minneapolis/St. Paul, my career as a Massage Therapist and now life surrounding my twin pregnancy.”

I am a Twin Cities Family: Joy Austinson | Twin Cities FamilyWhat do you love about calling the Twin Cities home?

We have such a unique culture of freeze babies, community seekers and fun lovers. My found community loves small businesses and finding the right angles for pictures! I love it all!

If we peeked in your purse right now, what would we find?

Chapstick, a meal bar and water bottle because I’m always hungry and thirsty (thanks babies!), a book and my calendar that I’m always adding to!

How do you prioritize friendships and connections with other women?

I can connect with anyone over coffee! Whether it’s a quick catch up or hours of life sharing. I usually have weeks of a full schedule of hard work and then a week of community with friends, family and fun activity. That’s how I stay sane and I’m never afraid to send the first text!

Being a mom is no easy task. How do you relax and take care of you?

Right now everything is about preparation. I’m preparing my body, my home, my schedule and finances for the double joy we’re expecting this November. We make lists of things to do, research and learn and then we slowly check them off as the seasons progress. I allow myself a lot of leeway and time to rest in between challenges.

What’s been your greatest joy in motherhood?

Seeing the changes to my body and people’s response to me in general. While I’m still only in the beginning of my first trimester I am seeing my own growth and others offering support, encouragement and shared happiness and excitement!

What have you found most challenging in your motherhood journey?

I really hate how exhausted I am and how hard it hits. I know, I know, this is nothing compared to when the babies are actually born and in my arms, but so far that has been the only challenge. I consider myself very lucky!

How do you hope your life influences and/or inspires other women?

I just want a community of support, love and networking. We’re all after the same things- love, success, happiness and raising beautiful humans!
