U-Pick Flower Farms Near the Twin Cities
There is nothing quite like a fresh-cut bouquet of flowers to brighten up your home, and Minnesota’s u-pick flower farms make that experience even sweeter. Instead of stopping at a grocery store, you can buzz around the fields like a bumblebee and cut the blooms yourself. While flower growing can be finicky, local u-pick flower farms across Minnesota offer families the chance to harvest their own fresh-cut flowers and bring them home, the next best thing to having your own backyard garden. Many of these farms require a bit of a drive, but we think it’s worth the effort, especially when you find a peaceful field of flowers to walk through. While most feature late-summer blooms, some farms are early bloomers and open very soon, so read on to see what they have to offer!
Fairhaven Farm | 13835 51st Ave, South Haven

This first-generation diversified fruit farm aims to create a “magical, yet genuine depiction of small, sustainable farming in central Minnesota.” They offer a variety of u-pick options, and their flowers are new to the farm. A variety of wildflowers are available for picking from July to October.
Summer Stems | 9650 75th Street N, Stillwater

{Peonies Only in June} This mother-daughter u-pick flower farm started out of necessity. In 2017, when the Hawkins family purchased their home with a large lot, they discovered the land included 175 peony plants. They decided to share the love and opened up their own flower farm, exclusive to the two-week time of year, usually in early June when peonies are in bloom. Bring your own bucket and shears and enjoy the peaceful farm, cutting your own bouquet.
Rustic Designs Flower Farm | 25801 County Road 9 NE, Belgrade

Rustic Designs Flower Farm is a small family farm that offers flower subscriptions as well as summer picking hours. Don’t miss their Annual Harvest Fest at the Flower Farm in September. You can walk the grounds, check out the craft vendors, eat some food, walk the flower field, cut some flowers, check out the farm store, and take lots of photos.
Flower Valley Orchards | 29732 Orchard Rd, Red Wing

In 1969, the Blue Family moved from St Paul to purchase and run Flower Valley, Apple Orchard. 4 generations of the Blue Family ran the orchard until their retirement in 2017. Missing their regular guests, they opened up the orchard for a pick-your-own-flower experience on weekends from July to September.
Berry and Bloom Farm | 6945 150th Ave SE, Chatfield

This farm is a drive from the cities but we think it’s worth it. This flower U-pick is open July through September, Monday through Saturday, during the hours of “Fun-Up to Fun-Down” as they like to say. Enjoy the beauty of the farm while you choose from thousands of flowers blooming all season long! They also provide instructions for cutting and care, scissors, containers, and water ready for you. Check out one of their flower arranging classes. Come back for photos in the field. Sunflower season is especially popular.
