Alicia launched her parenting career in middle school when she tricked her younger brothers into believing that cleaning was fun. Her heart is equally divided between loyalties as small-town Bison fan from North Dakota and a big city Gopher fan who chose Minnesota because it is less windy and has a diminished mosquito population.
Alicia advocates for ArchiMoms within the AIA Minnesota’s chapter of Women In Architecture. With her Master’s Degree in Architecture, she spends her days designing the future of urban living with high-end apartment buildings in the North Loop, Uptown and Northeast. She Has worked on the African continent in Mauritania, Kenya and Tanzania as a Peace Corps Volunteer and an architectural preservation consultant for the United Nations through UNESCO and World Heritage sites.
Her husband, Tom is a music trivia genius, her son, Edison is a MacGyver toddler incarnate and her infant daughter, Elouise is now a walker! She escapes to the wide-open spaces of the country side to photograph landscapes for her artistic nirvana at StudioBismillah.com. While pumping she works on her Peace Corps memoir titled, “Baptized in an Inch of Dirty Water”. Ultimately, there are a whole host of creative endeavors that she would love to do, but she has to keep her darn house clean.
