Minneapolis Chain of Lakes Story Time Canoe Paddle with Wild Rumpus and Author Molly Beth Griffin | Lake Bde Maka Ska
Join us Sunday, September 27 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM for an enchanting Story Time Canoe Paddle! We’ll combine the magic of story time with the outdoor beauty of a gentle canoe paddle on south Minneapolis’ Chain of Lakes. Together in our 10-person North canoes, we’ll sing and paddle on Bde Maka Ska, Lake of the Isles, and Cedar Lake. At Cedar Lake Point Beach, we’ll pull over onto the shore for a story time led by children’s bookstore Wild Rumpus staff.
Joining us for this paddle is beloved children’s author Molly Beth Griffin! Molly is the author of many picture books including Ten Beautiful Things, Just Us, Rhoda’s Rock Hunt, Rings of Heartwood: Poems on Growing, and Far, Far Away. She lives in South Minneapolis with her partner and their two children, where she enjoys walking around lakes, taking photos of birds, eating pastries, watching mysteries, and waiting for the mail.
WHO THIS IS FOR
- This event is perfect for families with children weighing 30 pounds and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
- No canoeing experience is necessary—Wilderness Inquiry provides all equipment and basic instruction. Personal floatation devices (life-jackets) will be provided for all participants.
WHAT TO BRING
- We encourage you to bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and a picnic lunch to enjoy during story time.
WHAT IS THE FEE?
- Each adult registration includes one Wild Rumpus hardcover book purchase, which affects the final fee. The book choices are:
- “Rings of Heartwood” for $21.90 including tax. The total adult registration fee is $76.90.
- “Far, Far Away” for $20.79 including tax. The total adult registration fee is $75.79.
- The youth fee for this trip is $35 and will be reflected upon booking your trip reservation.
