Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular | September 26 – November 2 at Minnesota Zoo

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota Zoo is returning in a big way in 2025! One of our very favorite Halloween Events, Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular, is kicking off on September 26th and running until November 2nd, 2025. This year’s Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular will lead you on a magical journey inspired by “Things that Go Bump in the Night.” Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular features talented artists’ creations and plenty of seasonal fun.

New this year, the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular invites guests to wander an expanded one-way trail designed with extra space and dazzling views at every turn. As you stroll beneath the trees, thousands of glowing pumpkins light the way, each one carved with artistry that sets the woodsy path aglow. Whether it’s your very first visit or a tradition your family eagerly awaits each fall, the atmosphere promises to deliver pure gourd vibes and a spectacular autumn adventure.

September 26th – November 2nd, 2025

This seasonal event is for people of all ages. The entire Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular experience is outdoors and involves considerable walking, so guests should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable footwear. There are concession stands along the way providing hot chocolate, cider, caramel apples, and other treats!

Animal viewing is available in Discovery Bay only until 8 pm. All other animal viewing areas, including Tree Top Trail, close at 4 pm when general Zoo hours end.

Gather your family and friends and come explore our glowing trail with thousands of artistically carved pumpkins!

Personalized Pumpkins

Looking to make your Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular visit extra special? Imagine surprising someone you love with a glowing pumpkin carved just for them—whether it’s a heartfelt marriage proposal, a birthday greeting brighter than candles, or their name shining in the autumn night. Families can order a custom-carved jack-o-lantern that will be placed along the trail for all to admire, then take it home as a keepsake at the end of the evening. The cost includes admission for two, and every design is crafted by professional artists (sorry, no corporate logos). Just be sure to place your request at least 10 business days before your visit so your pumpkin is ready to shine!

Accessibility Nights at Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular

The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is designed to be welcoming for everyone, with the trail accessible to guests using mobility assistive devices. While there are some elevation changes and a noticeable incline along the path, wheelchairs and motorized ECVs are available for rent at the Guest Services Desk on a first-come basis. Families are also welcome to bring strollers and wagons. For an even more comfortable visit,

Access Nights on October 1 and 2 provide a calmer experience, with reduced music, lighting, and fog effects so guests with disabilities can enjoy the magic of the glowing pumpkins at their own pace.
