Theatre for the Very Young, a genre of theatre that has been popular in Europe and Australia for more than 30 years, is returning to Stages Theatre Company! Launched in 2014 with our production of The Dandelion Seed, our Theatre for the Very Young productions have been met with an outpouring of interest and are raising the bar in providing an imaginative theatre experience for the youngest of audiences.
In this participatory, multi-sensory theatre experience for children under the age of 5 and their caregivers, kids become an integral part of telling the story and are fully engaged throughout the performance. We create an imaginative world that meets the young person where they are right now, engaging them in highly participatory, tactile, and interactive activities that celebrate their unique way of interacting the with the world around them. We are telling a wonderful story with all the theatrical elements of traditional theatre, with the added feature of inviting the young children to help tell the story with us.
Stages Theatre Company is proud to present our newest Theatre for the Very Young production of Leo Lionni’s Inch by Inch. In this unique experience, our youngest patrons and their caregivers hop into the whimsical and sweet story and meet up with our winsome inchworm who measures anything under the sun. Children will participate in the action and explore making sounds of a rainforest, helping a robin build her nest, dancing like a flamingo and catching a fish in a lake with a heron to name a few.
Leo Lionni’s Inch by Inch opens August 4th and runs through August 25th, 2019. This show is specifically designed for little ones under the age of 5 years old. The production will run approximately 45 minutes with no intermission. We encourage patrons to arrive 20 minutes prior to the production for a special pre-show experience!

Tickets are $12 for all ages one and up; free lap passes are available for those under one.
