Sometimes motherhood is lonely and frustrating and overwhelming. We are often left alone with our kiddos and our thoughts. We dwell on our mistakes, let worry and fear settle in, and compare ourselves to others. Sometimes we just need someone to break into our bubble and be the voice of reason.

If your day was exhausting, had a few rough moments, a lot of rough moments, or you’ve just been hard on yourself lately, I’m hoping that this just might be what you need to hear…
To the mom pregnant with her first child,
To the mom pregnant with another child,
To the mom in the trenches with a newborn,
To the mom who was late to pick up her kid today,
To the mom whose house looks like it was hit by a tornado today, and everyday,
To the mom struggling with postpartum depression or anxiety,
To the mom who feels guilty about formula-feeding,
To the mom who is just, so tired,
To the mom who didn’t do a craft with her kid today, or like, ever,
To the mom who had to carry her kid arching and screaming out of Target,
To the mom who feels lost in motherhood,
To the mom who fed her kid mac ‘n cheese for the third time this week,
To the mom whose baby still wakes up multiple times per night,
To the mom who chose chocolate over a workout,
To the mom who left her kids with a babysitter and feels guilty about not feeling guilty,
To the mom who cried more than her baby,
To the mom who didn’t check even one thing off her “to-do” list,
To the mom who prepared an extravagant meal of cereal and toast for dinner,
To the mom who lost her temper, again,
To the mom whose afraid she’s not setting a good enough example,
To the mom who is still wearing her maternity clothes,
To the mom who used the TV to entertain her kiddo more hours than she’d like to admit,
To the mom who snapped at her spouse when he got home,
To the mom feeling pressure to “do it all,”,
To the mom who didn’t enjoy every moment of motherhood today,
Listen up.
You did GREAT today. Yes, today.
Of COURSE you’re not ruining your kids. NO, you’re not the only mom who lost her cool today. And YES, your kids will grow up to be fabulous people.
You CAN do this.
No matter what lies you’ve told yourself, what worries you’ve fed, or fears you’ve entertained? Shut those puppies down.
If you messed up today, that’s ok. Really.
If you mess up again tomorrow? THAT’S OK. (I’ll let you in on a little secret: we all will).
You are a good mom. Scratch that. You’re A FANTASTIC mom, and YOU’VE GOT THIS.
And most of all, hear this:
You are not alone.
I repeat, YOU.ARE.NOT.ALONE.
You hear me?

A very sincere thank you. I DID need this today.
Yep. Needed this today. Wonderful as always, Marielle!
My daughter had a tough day yesterday. She’s a wonderful mother of twin 6 month olds and a 3 year old. Her and her husband work full time on opposite schedules. They are amazing parents. I can say this all the time but thank you for having your post so she hears it from others that she’s not alone and she is doing a great job.
As always friend, you say just what I need to hear! 🙂 @ozrules515
