Exploring Tranquility: A Sauna Journey through the Twin Cities

The sauna is a familiar tradition for many Minnesotans, and in recent years, its benefits have caught the attention of a broader audience. In the Twin Cities, you don’t need to own a sauna to enjoy one—there are plenty of places to visit. Here are three options in the Twin Cities worth checking out!

Saunable | Eagan

Location: 860 Cliff Road Eagan, MN 55123

Lebanon Hills Regional Park is located in Eagan and throughout the winter has cross-country skiing, and ice fishing on the lake among other fun winter activities. Saunable has secured this beautiful location to bring the sauna experience to the southern Twin Cities area. On a cold Sunday evening, I was able to round up a group of Mom-friends for a sauna and it did not disappoint. Not only did we all avoid the dreaded Sunday bedtime routine but we had quality time together with no phones or distractions.

When we pulled up we saw two adorable wooden structures with a solo firepit and chairs in the middle. Saunable offers gorgeous lake views while you enter the sauna. There’s space to set down your belongings, grab water, slip into your flip-flops, and step into the inviting, fragrant warmth of the sauna. We all settled in and had a wonderful time catching up on our busy lives and taking time to just enjoy our friendship! Slowly people would step outside in the 4-degree winter air, stand by the fire, and cool down.

The 75-minute sauna was a wonderful opportunity for a group of amazing Moms to do something for ourselves. I highly recommend you grab some friends and create this unique winter memory! There is also an opportunity to get your kids involved. If you book a private session there are no age requirements.

Saunable is open Thursday- Sunday and offers private and public saunas, gift cards and 5, 10, or 20- pack social passes.

cedar + stone NORDIC SAUNA | Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis

cedar + stone NORDIC SAUNA is a one-of-a-kind, relaxing, revitalizing and energizing experience. Whether you book a private session or a social session, I guarantee you will not regret it. When you arrive at the Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis you will be led up to the spa, there you will check in and be given directions on where to change and get situated. The two saunas at cedar + stone are situated on the corner of the roof overlooking the Hennepin Bridge and the Grain Belt Beer sign.

After choosing a tea (peppermint or blueberry hibiscus) and getting settled in your sauna, the experience begins. The ambient spa music playing will help you slow down and become more centered for your 75-minute sauna experience. While taking in the view, the heat, and the music before you know it, your first steam of essential oil will be poured over the steaming rocks. Pepper is the first and provides increased cognitive function and helps you feel grounded. The pepper is followed up by lemongrass, pine needle, and then finally eucalyptus.

During your time at cedar + stone NORDIC sauna, a wooden bucket is brought to you, filled with perfectly shaped snowballs. Since the rooftop does not have lake access, you can use the snowballs to place around the sauna to cool it down or apply to your skin to help with cooling and exfoliation. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city without ever leaving it. Immerse yourself in a serene and peaceful sauna experience like no other. Take a moment just for yourself, as a couple, or with friends, and indulge in the ultimate luxury of tranquility.

cedar + stone NORDIC sauna is open 7 days a week and offers a public or private sauna experience or a gift card option. Traveling to Duluth for the weekend? cedar + stone NORDIC sauna has a location in Duluth with a floating sauna option!
